I have purchased two of these so far. Each required some trimming and sanding to fit into the necks. I did not change the nut slots, but it seems to match a 9 1/2 or 10 inch radius better than the vintage 7 1/2.
They are great for the price. Anyone needing a nut to repair a guitar or a project can get one set up quickly. A luthier would probably purchase a blank and custom fit it. This one was fine for my purposes and saved me a lot of time.

Absolutely the easiest and cheapest way to significantly improve tone. I used this to replace a plastic nut that was skipping strings out on big bends. I didn't really believe it would improve tone, but I was stunned at the immediate improvement. Don't hesitate this is well worth the 10 bucks and 20 minutes work.

Couldn't be easier to install, just a little sanding for a perfect pressure fit - no glue really required if you fit it tightly and the strings then hold it in place. It does make a difference in both tone and tuning stability, and provides a sense of confidence that the nut is doing exactly what it should do. I used the pre-slotted version and no filing or dressing was necessary beyond the cosmetics at the ends.
